01I get it

I know what it is to care deeply about teaching and still feel burnt out by it.

My experience spans more than six years in education, from classrooms in Melbourne to remote teaching and senior leadership in the Northern Territory.

Teaching asks a great deal of you. Beyond planning, classroom management and assessment, there's the mental load you carry home, the pressure to keep performing when you're depleted and the feeling of being constantly switched on.

For early-career teachers, this can sit alongside the ambition to do well, make an impact and progress quickly. You may be capable, conscientious and motivated, yet still feel exhausted by the pace and expectations of teaching.

02A space for you

Slow down, make sense of it, keep your goals.

This is a space to slow down, make sense of what is happening and consider what would genuinely support you, without losing sight of your goals or the career you're working hard to build.

Think of it as the experienced teacher friend you may not have access to at school: someone outside your workplace who understands the education system, offers an honest perspective and is not there to assess your performance.

03What can we work on?

Shaped around you.

Every session is shaped around your circumstances, your capacity and what would be most valuable for you at that point in time.

Teaching and the demands of the job

We can work through the practical and relational challenges that come with teaching: classroom dynamics, workload, planning, organisation, difficult conversations, school expectations, professional responsibilities, boundaries, or the feeling that there's simply too much to hold at once.

Together, we can separate what's urgent from what's important, identify what's within your influence and find practical ways to make the work feel more manageable and sustainable.

I understand the current education landscape and the pressures teachers are navigating: increasing workload, accountability, performance expectations, limited time and the pressure to meet the needs of students, families, colleagues and leadership all at once.

Stress, overwhelm and your nervous system

Teaching doesn't only affect your timetable. It can affect your body, your energy, your sleep, your relationships and your ability to feel present outside school.

For ambitious early-career teachers, stress can be hard to recognise. High standards, a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to progress can look like success from the outside, even when your body is signalling that the pace is no longer sustainable.

We can explore the patterns that keep you in a cycle of stress, over-functioning or perfectionism, notice how your nervous system responds to pressure and develop practical ways to regulate, recover and create more space around the demands of the job. Where it's appropriate, sessions may include nervous-system education, somatic coaching, breath, grounding, embodied awareness, reflection or gentle practices.

This isn't about lowering your ambition or caring less about your career. It's about pursuing meaningful goals without sacrificing your health, capacity or sense of self along the way.

Career direction and leadership

Teaching can change over time, and so can your relationship with it. You may be ready to progress but unsure how to move forward without taking on more than you can sustainably carry, or considering leadership, extra responsibilities or a move to another school while questioning what success should look like for you.

We can explore where you want your career to go, what kind of work feels meaningful now and whether your current direction still fits. That might include preparing a resume, writing an application, getting ready for an interview or making a thoughtful decision about what comes next.

You don't need the answer before we meet. Career progression doesn't have to come at the cost of your wellbeing: we can consider not only what you want to achieve, but how you want to feel while you're achieving it.

Or simply a mentor space!

You don't need to arrive with a perfectly articulated goal or a neatly defined problem. Bring the situation you keep replaying, the conversation you're dreading, the decision you can't seem to make, or the feeling that you're no longer coping the way you used to.

Sometimes you just need someone experienced to say: "Okay. Tell me what's going on." We can start there.

04Try one today

Tiny resets before the bell.

Longer out-breath at the door

While the class lines up, breathe in for four and out for six. Three rounds. Nobody will know.

Feet on the floor

Between lessons, press your feet into the ground and notice it holding you up. Ten seconds counts.

Shake it out at recess

Shake out your hands, arms and shoulders for thirty seconds. Silly? A bit. Helpful? Often.

05Why work with me?

Education, leadership, wellbeing and somatic coaching.

Liana kneeling on red earth at golden hour, smiling

I've worked across inner-city and remote settings, in public and private systems, and moved into leadership responsibilities in my second year of teaching.

My experience spans classroom teaching, student wellbeing, inclusive education, mentoring, wellbeing coordination and educational leadership.

I understand the ambition of being a new teacher: wanting to make a difference, show what you're capable of, take on opportunities and build a meaningful career. I also understand how easily that ambition can become tangled up with overwork, perfectionism and burnout.

Alongside my education experience, I'm a trained somatic coach, yoga and meditation teacher, with further study in counselling. So we can look at both the practical challenge and how you're carrying it: the pressures, patterns and stress responses that may be affecting your capacity.

My role is to help you pursue your ambition while building a career that is meaningful and sustainable.

07Questions

Good to know.

Do you only work with teachers in the NT?

No. Mentoring happens online, so I can work with teachers anywhere in Australia.

I'm not a new teacher. Can I still book?

Of course. Mentoring is shaped with early-career teachers in mind, but plenty of experienced teachers are tired too. Book a free chat and we'll see if it's a good fit.

What if I don't know what I want to work on?

That's completely fine. You don't need a perfectly articulated goal. Bring the situation you keep replaying or the decision you can't seem to make, and we'll start there.

Is this the same as counselling?

No. Mentoring is practical support, coaching and nervous system tools for the job. If something needs more support, like counselling or your school's EAP, I'll help you find it.
